Cancellation and refund policy
Clear information about how your Pitara works.
Last updated: 17 October 2026
Our general rule.
Pitara sells digital reading access, and your access starts as soon as Razorpay confirms your payment to Pitara. Because of that, purchases and membership payments are not refundable once access has been delivered, except when what you bought is broken or unusable or you were charged wrongly, as listed below. We do not refund a change of mind, a book or membership you have not used or used only in part, or the time left on a membership after you cancel it.
Nothing in this policy takes away any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other law in India.
When you get a refund.
- Payment taken, no access. You paid, but the edition or membership did not appear in My library. If we cannot add it within 48 hours of your report, you can choose a full refund instead of waiting.
- Cannot be opened or read. A book or membership you paid for cannot be opened or read on a current web browser, and we have not fixed it within 7 days of your report. We refund that purchase in full, or for a membership, the current billing period.
- A seriously faulty edition. An edition has a fault that stops you reading a substantial part of it, such as missing or repeated chapters, the wrong book, or text too garbled to read, and we have not corrected it within 14 days of your report. We refund that edition in full. Small typing errors and layout differences between devices are not serious faults, but please report them so we can fix them.
- Not as described. What you received is materially different from its book or membership page, for example another language, title or edition. We refund it in full.
- Charged twice or wrongly. You were charged more than once for the same edition or membership period, or charged the wrong amount. We refund the extra amount in full.
- Charged after you cancelled. A membership renewal was charged after you had cancelled it before the renewal date. We refund that renewal in full.
A full refund returns everything you paid, including GST; a partial refund includes the GST on that part. If your situation is not listed, write to us anyway: we look at every request and explain our decision.
Cancel future renewal.
Use the subscription controls in My library to cancel a membership’s renewal at any time, without a fee. Cancelling stops future renewal charges. You keep reading access until the end of the period you have already paid for, because billing state and paid access periods are tracked separately. If a renewal charge is still being confirmed when you cancel, Pitara asks you to try again shortly, so that the paid period is recorded first.
Cancelling does not by itself refund the current period. You can also stop the recurring payment in your bank or UPI app; please cancel in Pitara too, so your account shows the right status. Before each renewal payment, your bank or UPI app tells you about it at least 24 hours in advance.
Failed renewals.
If a renewal payment fails, access continues until the end of the period already paid for. Access resumes if a later renewal payment is confirmed.
Failed or pending payments.
If money left your account but the payment did not complete, you have not made a purchase. Under RBI rules your bank or payment app must return the money automatically, for UPI and card payments within 5 days of the payment date. Pitara automatically re-checks unconfirmed payments with Razorpay. If the money is not back in time, contact your bank first, and write to us by email at pranitwofficial@gmail.com or by phone on +91 77108 22226 so we can help trace it. If we did receive your payment but the purchase is not in My library, we add it within 48 hours of your report; if we cannot, you can choose a full refund.
How to ask for a refund.
- Contact us by email at pranitwofficial@gmail.com or by phone on +91 77108 22226, from the email address you use for Pitara.
- Give your order reference, or the payment ID from your Razorpay payment confirmation, and say which book or membership it was for, the amount and the date.
- Tell us in a line or two what went wrong. For a reading problem, add your device, its system and browser, and a screenshot if you can.
How long it takes.
- Acknowledgement. We reply within 48 hours to say we have your request, with a reference number for it.
- Decision. We aim to decide within 7 working days of receiving the information we need, and we resolve every request within one month of receiving it.
- Refund. An approved refund goes back to the payment method you paid with, through Razorpay. We start it within 5 working days of approval and complete it within 30 days of your request. It usually reaches your account 5 to 7 working days after Pitara starts it; Razorpay and your bank decide when the money appears.
What happens to your access.
Refunds are made through Razorpay, and Pitara records a refund only when Razorpay confirms it. When a full refund of a payment is confirmed, the reading access that payment granted ends. Partial refunds are reviewed by Pitara staff before any change to access.
