THE ESSENTIALS

A little help goes a long way.

Clear information about how your Pitara works.

Read inside your Pitara.

Pitara sells account-based reading access. Books open in the in-platform reader, with chapter navigation, font controls, bookmarks, search, and reading progress. Downloadable PDFs, EPUBs, or ZIPs are not provided.

Individual editions.

An individual purchase gives lifetime account access to the specifically purchased edition. Corrections to that edition do not require another purchase. A new major edition may be sold separately; the original edition remains linked to the purchaser’s account according to the product terms.

Memberships.

All-access memberships include eligible books in all available categories and languages during an active paid period. A category pass includes one selected category in all its available languages. Availability and eligibility are displayed in the catalogue.

Paying, and GST.

Prices are in Indian rupees and include GST, so the price you see is the price you pay; checkout shows the GST inside it. You pay in Razorpay’s secure window, with the payment methods it offers (for example UPI or cards, depending on what is available). Your card, UPI and bank details go to Razorpay, not to Pitara. Your book or membership appears in My library once Razorpay confirms the payment, which takes a little longer with some methods. More in the Delivery policy.

Refunds.

Purchases are not refundable once your access has been delivered, except when something is broken or you were charged wrongly: your access did not appear and we could not add it within 48 hours, you were charged twice or the wrong amount, or a fault stops you reading what you paid for and we could not fix it in time. Refunds go back to the payment method you used. The Cancellation and refund policy explains who is eligible, how to ask and how long it takes.

Cancelling a membership.

Open My library, go to My memberships and choose Stop future renewal. No more renewal charges are taken, and you keep reading access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Signing in.

Pitara has no password. Enter your email address and we send you a one-time code to type in. If the code does not arrive, check the address for typing mistakes, look in your spam or junk folder, wait a minute and ask for a new code. Still stuck? Please contact us.

Install your library.

In a supported browser, use the Install prompt to add Pitara to your home screen. On iPhone or iPad, open Pitara in Safari, tap Share, and choose Add to Home Screen. The standalone app checks your reading access whenever it is online.

Offline reading and your devices.

An internet connection is needed to read, except for books you download for offline reading inside Pitara, on up to 3 devices. A downloaded book is stored encrypted on your device and opens only in Pitara; a purchased book stays readable offline; a membership book stays readable until your paid period ends, as long as the device connects at least every 30 days. Pitara checks your access again whenever you are online. Your library belongs to your Pitara account, not to one device, so you can sign in on any phone, tablet or computer to read online. Downloads on this device are listed in your Library.

Publication status.

Uploaded masters are private, and uploading never publishes a book. Releases move through editorial review and approval before publication. Dates, coverage, corrections, and disclaimers appear on the relevant book page.
